corroded battery terminal

i have a 2010 mustang that the battery terminal keeps getting corroded. I clean it and put the gel stuff that is supposed to keep them form corroding but it doesn't seem to help. anyone else have this problem, if so what did you do or have you tried.

What are you using to clean the battery post and the cable end ?

i have tool that cleans the terminal and post of the battery. it is a two piece tool from your local auto parts store.

Unless you neutralize the acid on the terminal/battery post connector, the corrosion will continue. Clean the connector and battery post real good with a baking soda solution to neutralize the acid. Then wire brush the connector and use a green scotch brite to clean the battery post and surrounding area. Put a light coating of di-electrical grease on the post and the inside/outside surfaces of the connector and reconnect. Shouldn't need anything else.

You can purchase the dielectric / tune up grease at any auto supply store. Permatex is one of the manufacturers.
