Driver window will not operate

This is basically informational, and thought I'd add, since I could find nothing relating to this.

My brother in law purchased a 1998 Mustang with a damaged driver door, which he replaced with a junkyard door. I was not present when he dismantled and swapped the doors out, so I had no knowledge of what all was unplugged in the process. Later, after changing the regulator and glass out to the newer door, and testing the window operation, we discovered that the driver window did not work. The passenger side worked fine, as did the outside rearview mirror.

After wasting a lot of time diagnosing the issue, I started looking at all the connectors and pairing them up with their mates, and found one with 6-8 pins near the outer end of the door, close to the lock servo for which I could not account . We then looked at the door panel itself, and found an electronic module embedded in the panel, which after plugging it in, allowed the window to roll up and down. I'm not sure why it is mounted where it was, or it's precise function, but in case anyone encounters this issue, it may be helpful to know that the window will not function if this module is not plugged in.
