1999 RANGER battery voltage drop
Hello. i have a 1999 ford ranger and recently having a problem.. i was driving along one day and as i began to take off from a stop light i got up to about 20mph and the truck just died completely, didnt have any power. but then after about 10 minutes i tried starting it and it started right up no problem until i reeved up the engine then it just lost all power again.then drove just fine for about 5 miles back to my house... nowwhen i give it gas while driving the voltage meter starts to drop way down and if i let off the gas it goes back to normal.. and this happens in the middle of the day with no lights no radio nothing consuming power on at all! The battery + post was badly covered in corrosion so i had completely cleaned it but didnt solve the problem and i had the alternator tested and its good & the battery is good also.
can anyone help me with this?
can anyone help me with this?
check any wires that go from the body to the engine, look for chafing, ripping, fraying, etc. because what it sounds like to me is when you accelerate the engine twists from the torque, and it does that separately from the body (obviously) and over time the wires that stretch that gap can become worn out from the constant moving and start to cut out when moved a certain way.
hope i helped a little.
