2003 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 problems.

I have had a couple of problems with my truck that I hope i can get some help with. I am currently laid off so any repairs I do are going to have to be done by me.

I have been having low idle problems and now it is stalling. i'm going to change the spark plugs within the next couple of days. I replaced the air filter oil filter and fuel filter about 3 weeks ago.

i don't know if the other problem is related... the truck bucks and revs up when I push in the clutch. If i am coasting at about 2000 to 2500 rpms the truck bucks. When I push the clutch in the engine revs to over 3000 rpms and sometimes it will last about 5 or 6 seconds (unless I "kick it down).

I'd be happy to supply more info if needed. Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

RE: 2003 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 problems.

if the throttle is drive-by-wire it may have something to do with that system, if you arnt familiar with the term it simply means there is no throttle cable controlling the actual throttle plate, so if you look on the intake where the throttle plate is you should see a few wires going to it instead of a cable, if it is then i'm not sure there is much you can do on your own, sorry :(, hoped i helped a little.

it has a throttle cable they didnt come out for ford till after 2003 but he is right it could be the throttle cable but i would check for a vacumn leak around your brake booster or egr
