94 throttle sticks occasionally Idle Air Valve?

Hi
Thanks so much for having this forum! What a great place to share a problem. My 1994 Ranger occasionally has the throttle stick and stays at a high idle for a short time. I had been spraying the outside linkage and it seemed to help for a short time. It almost seemed to do it when the weather was rainy or humid. Took it into a mechanic and of course it wouldn't do it but they ran a bunch of tests and could not find anything. Things seem to be pointing at the idle air valve according to them. Since then it has not done it for about 2-3 weeks and it may be that they cleaned the area. Now it is starting to do it occasionally again so it's got my attention.

My questions
1. Does it sound like it would be the best bet to go ahead and replace it?
2. How do I know which part number to buy for it. I notice you need to be pretty specific. Mine is a 1994 according to the title and the VIN is 1FTCR10A0RUD50946
