97 Ranger won't Turn Over
Have a 97 Ranger that will not turn over. When I push in the clutch and turn the key the relay close to the battery clicks thus I would assume it is either the wiring to the starter or the solonoid but heres the catch: about every third or fourth try to start the locks cycle.I have put a new battery in and made no difference. Does the locks locking then unlocking lead me in a different direction then the starter wiring or solonoid.
Thanks for any help you can give |
cant help much but my 97 F150 has done something similar since 98! for mine it will do the same(selonoid click and locks lock/unlock) but if ya try it 3-4 times it will start...and it only does it once in a while, i figured it would break years ago and then i would find the cause but it hasnt and i'm at a loss...

Same thing happened to my '99. There's a copper braid between the solenoid and the actual motor. It corroded over time and opened. So the solenoid worked and engaged the drive gear, but the motor itself wouldn't turn.
