brakes

i have a 2002 ranger 4x4 4.0L. when i press on the brakes (usualy at slow speeds) it feels like the anti lock brakes are kicking in. i have stopping power but im not sure if this will be bad when i actually need the anti lock brakes this winter? the peddle seems to shake andgoesfrom firm to almost the floor. do u think its a sensor or something like that?

also, nothing to do with the top problem, when ever it rains out my rear wheels like to lock up when i first start off. do u think its a bad wheel seal or is moisture getting in somewhere it shouldn't?

RE: brakes

I have an 2002 ranger edge, purchased used from dealer in Aug 2006. The truck sat at the dealer from May 06 to August. At Thanksgiving 06 had heavy rain, the truck sat for 48 hours without being driven. Went to back up and one of the shoes (rivet type with plenty of pad) pulled loose from the plate. I have notice (after having replaced both drum and shoes) that when it is really wet and the truck sits that the back brakes are extremely touchy. Next time you are driving check the temp on the drums they should only be slighty warm not hot for normal unloaded driving.
