Check engine light

Help! I have a 2002 Ranger 4x4 my check engine light came on and the codes read lean bank 1 and lean bank 2. I changed all 3 of o2 sensors and even changed the fuel filter on advice of parts store. Ramger only has 86,000 on it. Well it did not work, the light still comes on and reads same lean bank 1 and lean bank 2. One Mechanic thinks the plastic intake may be leaking and suggest trying a smoke machine? He says the Rangers are bad about this and wants $375.00 to repair if that is what is wrong?

Has anyone had any similar codes or issues I live in the sticks Pickwick Dam America, TN and do most of my trouble shooting myself with help from this forum.

Plastic sounds like big trouble. The material warps easy at lower temperature.

Before pulling the intake check for proper fuel pressure. A fouled pressure regulator may not hold enough pressure in the rail and make the engine run lean on both sides.

I'd agree to check fuel pressure first. A dirty fuel filter could lean it out too. I just personally don't trust the ability of plastics too much. That doesn't mean you shouldn't check first, but if it is running lean - that heats up the engine - thereby you may have already warped it. You may want to check everything to be sure it doesn't reoccur over and over.
