Clutch Replace

I'm replacing the disc, press plate and slave cylinder on my 96 2.3 L Ranger. I have a Haynes manual that hasn't been much help so far. I cannot remove the shifter from the tranmission. The manual says to remove the bolt and pull up on the shifter but this does not work. Anyone know how to get the shifter out? I also need to remove the line from the master cylinder going into the transmission (slave cylinder). Is there a special toll needed to remove it. I have attached pictures of what I'm talking about.

Any help would be appreciated,

Jim

RE: Clutch Replace

Well I figured out how to get the line loose with a tool from NAPA. Still having trouble with the shifter. I can't see any place else to disconnect it from the transmission.

not sure if your is the same as my 2003, but try taking the nut that you removed from the bottom of the shifter and tighten it down on the other side of the of the same bolts that sticks out the other side of the shifter. Thats how mine came off, it is kind of a press fit.
