clutch slave cylinder ?

After just putting in a rebuilt tranny and new clutch last summer, it appears that the slave cylinder has gone out on my '92 Ranger 2WD 3.0. I was having to fill it about once every 500-800 mi, but it got really cold the other night and the next morning the pedal was really soft and refilling doesn't help although the leak appears to be inside thebell housingbecause I can't see any fluid leaking out. ANYWAY... my question is do you think it would be possible to put trans on a trans jack, remove bolts holding trans to motor, remove drive shaft, and crossmember under trans and then simply slide it back far enough to replace the defective part? I know it's a stretch, but it's the only part of the deal I wasn't here for so I have nothing to base an opinion on. Any suggestions would be welcomed, I love my truck but it's about to push me over the edge!!

i dont know if you could slide the transmission back far enough to remove the 2 bolts that hold the slave cylinder in the tranny..if i remember right they were 12mm...you might luck out and be able to snake a rachet with an extension in the bellhousing and pull the old one out...if nothing else i'd just drop the tranny..i had done one in the same kind of truck in a lil over 3 hours and that included changing a u-joint..it definetely sounds like a slave cylinder to me.
