Fuel Filter couplings

Am I just really that dumb or is there a certain trick to getting the couplings off my fuel filter...?

It's an 2001 3.0 Edge

Should just have the removable 'R' clips on the filter.. Once their removed, the line should just slip off..

Should look like these.. Squeeze the small tabs at the bottom of the clip legs in toward each other and slide the clip partially out..

Nope, need the tool... pretty sweet of Advance, though, they pasted their sticker right over the Ford directions...

Can I just squeeze them together with a pair of needlenose?

RE: Fuel Filter couplings

By the way, it takes a special tool that clamps over the hose and you just push it into the thing, there is a spring inside or something and it releases them enough so that when your pushing it gets over the end of the filter... the OTHER SIDE, though, with only one line, was exactly as you described it... what a pain, though... just for a fuel filter!
