Fuse Blows on overdrive

Hi
My problem is a fuse blows when I hit the overdrive on/off button. This fuse also stops my backup lights from working. The manual just says to bring it to s dealer to be survised. I called my dealer and they had no ideas but are willing to look at it for $100 an hour... Does anybody have a clue as to where to look on the tranny for the actuator for this and can it be checked without having to scrap the truck?

RE: Fuse Blows on overdrive

Problem Solved. Here's how.
I hooked up a test light accross the fuse socket and shifted into reverse, my backup lights light up and test light is moderitly bright. now in nuetral and I press Overdrive off button and it appears fine, OD off indicator on and test light very dim= no current draw. Now I shifted through gears a couple times and find my test light gets very bright at one point, lots of current draw. Pulling apart the steering column cover I find that the two wires that go to the switch are POOOORLY insulated and rub every time you shift. 10 cents worth of tape an my backup lights and overdrive work fine. Hope this helps others as I see this Wire could cause intermittent blowen fuses on other rangers.
