Default gas saver

What is the easiest (and cheapest) way to get more power and gas milage out of my Ranger? It has the 2.3 liter 4 cylinder in it?

i would have to say either a k&n or something of that nature. a freeer (is that a word?) flowing exhaust of some sort with muffler or something in it just make sure that you dont put a straight pipe on it. i have a 00 ranger that i put a k&n and a knock off of a flowmaster muffler on it and i get 10x better gas mileage.

I use the Volant intake, only because it is much cheaper than the K/N. The results for both are the same. Gibson make a nice exhaust that will further your gains. I would also recommend switching to an electric fan that only runs when needed, not all the time. The flex-a-lite flx-30 in what I use. The best price that I found was from Summit racing. If you are still looking for more, look into bamachips. They are the best for your application.

I would also recommend changing your engine oil, transmission fluid and rear end oil over to full synthetics. It helps more than you may think. I prefer the Amsoil products, but many are available. If you choose the Amsoil products, go with the 0W30 engine oil, 75W90 severe gear rear end oil and there ATF for the trans. It does not matter if you have an auto or manual trans, they both take the same fluid.
