Hydraulic clutch

how do you tell if the master or slave cylinder is shot?

i have no pedal, the fluid level is good, tried bleeding the system, and have no leaks.

i came to the conclusion that something in the system is brike, but can not tell what. i am working on a 79 ranger withthe 5 speed tranny

If you pump the clutch pedal once or twice then hold it down while opening the bleeder fitting on the slave cyl. If you get fluid with some pressure generally the master cyl is functioning. If you get no fluid pressure out the bleeder fitting then the clutch master cyl is apparently not functioning. Always make sure the master cyl is full.

I am getting fluid every time helper pushes clutch. but the peddle has to be pulled up every time>> I am going through all these old post and you helped me on one I posted a few days ago

See my response on the older thread you posted to. Normal bleeding processes don't do anything on Rangers as the MC angle traps air in the top.. Bench bleed MC or bleed under dash as described in that thread..
