Inertia Switch

Had problems with my new Ford Ranger not starting or just dying out as though it was out of gas. Finally found out what was causing these problems. One dealership told me that they replaced the fuel pump -- still under warranty. A second dealership service manager explained the problem. There is a reset button located at the bottom of the firewall close to where a passenger would rest their feet. The Inertia Switch turns off the electric fuel pump in the event of an accident. To reset the fuel pump you need to push this button. Aparantly this button will disable the fuel pump, as well, if it is operational. So, If you find yourself in the boonies 400 miles from home and your truck won't start try the Inertia Reset Button. Wish someone had told me that. I have a 2005 Ford Ranger 4x4 Off Road. Happy Motoring!
