Default lock issue on hard tonneau cover

i just got a 2003 oem hard tonneau cover for my 2004 ford ranger. the cover came off a 2003 ranger and fits great. my issue is that one of the cable assemblies for the lock doesnt work. i have a ford parts schematic showing that the lock cylinder is a separate part and it goes into the mechanism on the cable assembly. when the key is turned in the lock cylinder, that turns the cable mechanism which then moves the cables to unlock the latch. does anyone know how to disassemble the cylinder from the cable mechanism. i priced both parts, over 200.00 for both but the cable assembly is 90.00. so if the lock cylinder is good, which it is, i dont see buying a new one. just need to get it apart. i'm assuming a locksmith may help but was wondering if anyone here may know. thanks in advance. don

Did you find the cable I am having same problem. I need cable nearest tailgate. Went to ford and they said I would have to buy new cover. I just need a cable for a $50.00 to $60.00 that's not available.
