Default RE: ranger 89 4x4 front axel problem

Well not real sure of what your trying to say , The axle should come outta the diff an hook to the u-joint an attach to the wheel . Its called floating , Are you saying the axle is broke at the u-joint ??, If so that would be very clear to see , as for the diff end of it , Yes its splined going into the diff , theres no hanger or holder that secures the shaft between the diff an the u-joint on the back side of the wheel .

Is the wheel not turning as locked in 4X4 ?, some folks think both front wheels lock in at the same time , they dont , one locks then the other , when the one stops spinning ie stuck, then the other side is suppose to lock in , its called limited slip. So really you have only one rear tire pulling at one time . an one front tire pulling at one time.

Unless you have a posi track, or some aftermarket like dietroit locker that has both tires on one axle pulling at once, then you would have a true 4x4

I dont know if this has helped or I have missed the problem complete'e ???? , [8D]
