Ranger battery light indicator

I have a 2001 ranger xlt 2 wd supercab with a 3.0l v-6. I have owned it for 4 months. Twice so far, intermittently, the battery indicator light has come on. I have the voltage gauge on the dash, and it shows charging the same as always. I had the alternator tested and it was working fine. The light will come on, then go off after the truck has set idle for a while. Does anyone have any ideas on why this could be happening?:eek:

RE: Ranger battery light indicator

Do you have any aftermarket electronics installed? Fog lamps, stereo, winch etc? Things that put a heavy draw on the electrical system came sometimes mess with the battery sensor. I had an air compressor installed to supply air for the airride on my 97, sometimes it would cause the battery light to come on.[sm=smiley10.gif]
