Ranger multifunction switch question

Hi everyone: In our 97 Mazda B series truck (same as Ranger) we have an issue with the turn signal stalk. It will not stay at the 'turn left' position. We have to hold it down.
Do I need to replace that multifunction switch or is there a piece inside the column that is failing?

Thanks for your help.

there is a piece inside the steering column that broke off and not allowing the the turn signal switch to lock in that position it can be fixed with a little work. you will need a couple of pullers to do the job

Thanks Grindman, I appreciate that. I suppose I'll get that piece from the pull a part, when it's warmer.

you're better off to get that part from autozone or another parts house if the ranger is the same thing then you could match it up with one in the help section but then again it may not be the same as a Ford but try it first

Thanks again!
