starting problems
hope you can help me,my dad has a 2000 ford ranger we've changed plugs, wire, coil, electric ignition switch and still does this---it will start maybe.drive it all day sometimes differant places starts fine then it won't start turns over but nothing. it can sit in driveway and you can start it shut it off wait 5 minutes won't start after awhile starts. 3.0 automatic,we also get a code reading 305-306 i think is injectors. thanks
|
Can you do this?
When it won't start, check right at that time if the engine has spark. Depending on what you find will determine what we check next. |
staring problems
yea we get fire to coil and none to wires, changed coil twice

starting problems
ok i unplugged the safty neutral switch last night and cleaned it,starting all day so far, don't want to drive very far and shut it off could that be the problem. it comes all at once and later will start
|
Usually, and I use this term loosely here, the neutral safety(range selector switch) can affect whether the starter will engage among other things it affects.
Am I correct in assuming you have a 3.0L engine with one coil pack ? |
3.0 motor.stating today also guess he'll have to drive it around and wait and see.the only other thing it might be is his key has that anti theft chip in it and it's going bad.i'm lost after that
|
Everybody has or should have a second coded key. Anytime you suspect the key as the problem the second key will eliminate the key as the possible problem.
|
all of this sounds like my 94 ranger 2.3 . It would die as iam driving. Then I'll wait a few minutes then it would start again, but now it wont start at all. And by the way I have the 2.3 with the eight plug setup, two coils.

I forgot to say I checked the fuel filter and have spark.

Jesse ,
Does this vehicle have any kind of anti-theft stuff on it ? |
