I have a 98 Ranger with th 4.0L. It has a Thumping noise and the temp gauge will fluctuate. There is a TSB out for this problem and a by-pass kit to help reduce the noise. My question is can the by-pass kit be pieced together. Ford wants $157 for a t-fitting, by pass tube and hose assembly. I think I am gettting hosed!! (sorry for the pun I couldn't resist.)
