Default Towing a 1988 Ranger 4x4

I plan on towing a 1988 Ford Ranger 4x4 250 miles each way to a bird hunting lease. Will it do any damage to the Ranger if I make sure the lockout hubs are in free, the steering is unlocked, and transfer case and tranny in neutral? Do I need to remove the driveshaft or do any other thing?

I found a 88 Ranger 4x4 owners manual. It states manual transmissions can be towed OK up to 55 mph with no distance restrictions if hubs are in free and trans and transfer are in neutral. Thanks anyway.
