Transmission help
 

So im posting this thread for a friend. She has a 2000 ranger xl 3.0 flex fuel 5 speed. She recently replaced the clutch transmission mount and slave cylinder (which was not prefilled). At first there didnt seem to be any issues however now about 4000 miles later she is coming into problems. Initially whenever she starts the truck up if it is still at a high RPM because it is idling and she goes to engage reverse it will cause a loud grinding/whining noise. This has only happened 2 or 3 times all of which it immediately got shut off then restarted and didnt have the issue again right then. She is also explained to me that it doesn't feel to her like whenever she is engaging a gear it is fully engaging it makes a winding noise but it does end up engaging. She has checked her transmission fluid and it is okay the only other symptom that we know at this point is she feels like the drive shaft is lacking the play that it had at one point she says when she takes it and tries to roll it there is no movement whatsoever nor does it have any movement forward and backwards . If anyone could offer some suggestions ideas or tips they would be greatly appreciated I look forward to response

Problems like this are not always easy to pinpoint. It does sound from your description , that there is more than one problem.

How much free ply, the movement of depressing the clutch pedal before any resistance is felt, does it appear the clutch pedal has?
I am wondering what is going on with the driveline. From your description it sounds like there is some binding there.
Hydraulic clutches can display all sorts of problems if the hydraulic system is not working correctly. This will need to be checked out thoroughly.
It may require the vehicle be taken back to whoever did the work and their work rechecked.
