Theft Code 11 2001 Sport Trac
 

A friend of mine just gave me a 2001 Sport Trac with just over 200,000 miles on it but it won't start.
- The single key he gave me will turn the ignition but it will NOT open the door (might be a clue in there somewhere)
- The Theft light is blinking fast when I turn the ignition on. Eventually the quick flashing stops and I'm getting a Theft Code 11.
- Battery is almost brand new


I'm assuming it's the Theft Code 11 that is stopping the start process.....any ideas on how to correct that issue.

Aside from the high mileage and the expense it will cost to see if it even runs, well,,,,,,we never know.
You will need proof of ownership

You have 3 choices,
1. have a dealership come out and try to program at least 2 working keys for you.
2. have a certified locksmith come to your location and do the same thing.
3. If a shop in your area has the ability to access the manufacturer's site and security info program 2 working keys.

The dealership could be the most expensive followed by the locksmith and maybe the shop.

There has to be some history that we don't know about and maybe the friend didn't tell you.

I suppose the condition of the vehicle will have some bearing on your decision, but you are starting off with 2 strikes against you.

Would like to see what some others would suggest.

The issue of the title is still on going so I'm not spending too many heart beats on the truck yet. BUT do you know where the antitheft module is? The ignition ring and computer under the hood were easy but I can't locate the anti theft System module is on the truck?
