07 Taurus keyless entry

Just bought a used07 Taurus from a non-Forddealer. The dealeris unable to tell me the factory preset codefor the keyless entry system thus not allowing me to use it, or go into it and change the code to something else. The owners manual saysthe codeis located on the computer box, or available from the dealer. Is it located on the computer box, and where is the computer box located? The dealer tells me that I have to call Ford Customer Service to get the info. Any suggestions?

Thanks so much for any input!

Like a dummy Ididn't search previous posts first when asking this question. Sounds like it's inside the car, underneath the steering column, at least thats where it seems to be located on previous years - I'll take a look....

Thanks!

RE: 07 Taurus keyless entry

I have a 2000 Taurus and my code is indeed under the steering colum. If it's the same place you need to get a flashlight and go under above the brake pedal there is a little white sticker up underthere near the wirings.. the writing on the sticker is facing you from the back so you would need to shine the flashlight on the sticker itself but since it's white you'll be able to see through it to write down the number. It was actually very simple to find once I knew where to look. The keypad is a lifesaver as it opens the door, trunk and arm the alarm.

go to taurusclub.com. I found the code in a few seconds. It is actually on the black box right next to the brake pedal, but it is not on a sticker, it is engraved directly on the box.
