1993 taurus cranks but doesnt start

Happened the other day, car died going down the road and would not restart. Can hear the fuel pump kick on. When I test it, I am only getting 20 psi at the rail. It seems to hold and not lose pressure, but that seems a little low to me. What are the fuel pressure specs for a 93 3.0 ohv motor?

35 to 40psi

I spray brake cleaner into the air snorkel before the maf. the engine should start and run briefly on a 3 second spray. if it does, you know it a fuel problem.

Ok, thanks! I did try a little spray of ether while daughter was cranking the engine and it sputtered a little and tried to run. I definitely think it is a fuel issue.

I agree.
change the fuel filter first. you should be able to blow through it. even if it is the pump and not the filter; the filter must be changed to get warranty on a new fuel pump.

Hey, guys and gals. I want to do something different. Just an old fa%t from TX that up using what you had. Have a good import truck frame, of course everything is coming off of it. Have a 93 Taurus LX (wagon), good motor, bad trans. Think of this, rear wheel drive gasser Taurus wagon. My problem is what year, model trans to get that will bolt up to my 3.8 Essex?
