Default 2000 Emission Control Light

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has experienced the same problem as I. The emission control light has been on constantly for the past couple of months, i replaced all plugs and wires, seemed to have disapeared for a few hours then came back on since.

I need the car to pass an aircare inspection, so i want to ensure i have this problem rectified prior to.

Thanks, Steve

Have the trouble code scanned at a parts store and post the code here so we may help you.

Most Auto Zone and Advance Parts stores do this free. Call them up first.

Regardless of what was causing the code, once the MIL is set, you need to get a scanner to clear it. Most autoparts stores that have a OBD 2 scanners will scan the OBD for free, but at least the autozone down here won't clear it. It's not SUPPOSED to work but it did for me. Discconnect the battery for about 5 min. then reconnect. It may clear the MIL then. Then follow the manual for driving afterwards to reestablish the idle and transmission operating parameters.
