2004 Ford Taurus Rear Defroster Damaged

How do you fix a rear defroster? I've been told I'll have to replace the entire back window, according to the dealership I deal with. Any suggestions?

Where is the damage? If the pigtail for the wiring has come off, there is an adhesive that will glue it on. If it is the grid broken, there is a grid repair kit available. Check your local parts houses.

Grid repair can be very time consuming, but it works.

I went to my local auto part store, and they looked at me as if I was an idiot. They have never heard of such a thing, so they recommended super glue. Of course, that did not work.

It was the power wire on the driver's side that came unattached. I am not sure why it came unattached...whether it dry-rotted or I bumped it off somehow. Anyways, I did get it repaired at a glass company in Jamestown, NY called D & S Glass. I believe the guy used an epoxy glue to reattach it...less than 20 minutes to repair for $30 + tax. I was pleased. Too bad the Ford dealership couldn't figure it out on their own!!
