Default 2004 Taurus tranny fluid

I noticed a small puddle of tranny fluid on the garage floor today, here's what I discovered. The dipstick seemed to be loose and there was a puddle of fluid on the top of the tranny under the dip stick. Did the tranny fluid come up and out the dip stick tube somehow ? This can't be good. The dip stick doesn't seem to be very tight, but this seems to be the only source ! Thanks in advance, Tom.

It is possible. The dipstick is just sealed with an"O" ring. I have seen these deteriorate over the years due to the heat cycles of the transmission.

I talked to a friend of mine today and he said he has heard of them pushing fluid out the dip stick tube and eventually the tranny's go! Has anyone heard of this ? That would suck.
