New here but not the the forums. I have a few questions?????


Well I have 54k on my 2004 Duratec and lookin for some info.

1. I want to replace the spark plugs and need to know what is the best running in your opinion and also what plug is OEM?

2. I need to know how many quarts (Mercon V ATF) of transmission fluid is needed and what manufacture of trany filter to use. (possible Part #) ?

3. Also is this transmission a 4F50N? The sticker does state X on the tag which corresponds with the 4F50N. The axle is a 6R on the sticker on the door.

4. Why does the Duratec and and Vulcan have the same transmission (in the owners manual) but different fluid capacity is .1 quart lower on the Duratec?

5. I have the on board electrical diagnostic center and was wondering if there is an on board OBD-II code reader when CEL's are up on the PCM/ECU?

6. Is there a cheap CIA for ram air intake using a K&N drop in filter and OEM filter box?

#5 is no. There is something that the book says that sounded like that, but it gave me nothing when I checked it. The code reader told me a lot, but the in-dash display showed no codes.

Too bad, that could save some money.

#1, I got them from Ford. Cost a ton, but the piece of mind was worth it. Heard too many stores saying too many different numbers to feel safe. When I removed the old ones, I found 4 of one heat range and 2 of another. Big variety in gapping too. Think the shop that worked on it before I bought it was just as confused as many of the stores.

Fine wire, double platium. I also replaced the wires with a factory set. Now that was expensive! Again, worth it for the piece of mind and the easy of replacement. Everything fit perfectly.

Also, you do NOT need to remove anything to get access to all 6 plugs. I just did it and didn't remove anything.
