93 transmission problems

hoping for some ideas
have a 93 Taurus with a 3.8 and having problems with the automatic transmission
I find that occasionally it will act up
not all the time more like every other time it's driven
it will hesitate in shifting up from second two-thirds and when it does this
it will also down shift to first rather hard upon slowing down to stop

I am thinking that it functions normally at times that the problem is probably not internal
but not positive
most often it functions perfect when cold problems occur mostly after 10miles of driving
would appreciate any ideas gary.

RE: 93 transmission problems

Whens the last time you serviced the tranny , dropped oil from tranny an converter, fresh oil is a lot thicker makes a big diff in the way they shift ,, Also might want to check your TPS. ( Throttle Postion Sensor ) if its outta range it will effect tranny shifting
