96ford taurus prob
 

neighbors 1996 taurus runs fine starts good but will not shift into drive. stuck in park checked the fuses all good. if ipump the brake very softly about 3 times and hold break pedal down it will shift out of park. but if i just push break pedalin once will not shift out of park. btw its a 3.0 with a od trans. got any ideas? any advice greatly appreciated thanks.

Sounds like a failing brake switch

Check the wires to the switch located behind the brake pedal. Also do a quick test and check the brake lights and see if they are working also.
