Crank Pulley Removal Harmonic Balancer

This is a 99 DOHC Taurus V6. Does anybody have experience removing this part? The replacement part is basically a 1 piece assembly that consists of the pulley and a long shaft that screws into the harmonic balancer. The piece that I'm trying to get off is an extension from the harmonic balancer that has an outer pulley pressed on to it with a bearing and then an inner pulley that screws onto the shaft that is slotted. The problem I have is when I try to remove the entire thing, only the inner pulley comes off and not with the extension shaft.... I'm left with just a threaded shaft and can't get the impact wrench on it to take the rest of it off. My thought was to weld on a nut after I get the inner pulley off and then take it the rest of the way off, but I didn't want to attempt something permanent if somebody had this figured out.

In case anybody runs into this. I did get it fixed. What I did was used LocTite 680 to hold the inner part of the pulley onto the shaft. It held up as I took an impact wrench to get the whole assembly off.
