Default Engine code 2000 Ford Taurus 3.0 V6 24valve Duratec

Hi everybody,

My name is Anne Jan and i'm from the netherlands.

I'm looking for an engine for my Taurus.
I have two codes of my car:
VIN: XMPFP56S9YG272292 and Enginecode??: AG850AB-0A2.

I have spoken with several engine-owners but if they ran my VIN in carfax it doesn't pull up.

Can anyone tell me what is wrong with the VIN or what the VIN should look llke?

Thanks

Anne Jan

You have 17 digits which is correct "XMPFP56S9YG272292". However, the VIN normally will start with a 1, 2 or 3 for the origin of build. The 2nd digit is Brand.

1 = USA
2 = Canada
3 = Mexico

F = Ford
M = Mercury
L = Lincoln

With this in mind, your VIN number should start with a "1F" and look like this example "1FAFP56S2YG258945". However, I believe that the VIN for the Netherlands will start with an "X" for your country's VIN requirements, thus making your VIN number correct. It's just possible that CARFAX may not track vehicles outside of North America.

The 8th digit is the engine code. Since your's is an "S", you do have the 3.0 Duratec 24v DOHC engine.
