Engine light is on !

My engine light was on and when i drove it; it jerked as i pressed on the gas and i had the spark plugs changed, wires, and after that it would not stay running only for 3 to 4 seconds and then i had the fuel filters and the fuel pump changed. What could be the problem?? HELP!

So it will 'still' only run for a few seconds? Do you have the trouble code that set the light.. Was it on the work/service order?

RE: Engine light is on !

Hi Hayapower thank you for getting back with me; after all the stuff was done and the fuel pressure censor changed the code was 191 and still is reading 191 so what is that? and what could it be now? (if the car is parked it will run but when it's driven it shuts off)

RE: Engine light is on !

P0191 is for low/high fuel pressure being detected in the fuel rail by the comprehensive component monitor.. 'Ideally' what should be done first is to check the fuel pressure manually with a test gauge installed, and make sure it's within pressure specs (min/max).. It sounds like your loosing fuel pressure, or the pump stops running and the fuel pressure within the rail is spent/exhausted, so the engine stalls.. Could be as simple as the fuel pump relay in the battery junction box under the hood failing causing a system power distribution problem,or possibly still a bad pump/issue with the install.. If the running problem was 'exactly' the same as prior to the pump replacement, chances are it not the new pump or the work done.. Could be a bad fuel pump driver module as well.. If your inclined and have a test light, couple things you might do first is check for power in/out of the inertia shut off switch (behind the luggage compartment lining/right side) with a keybump/start attermptwhich would provethat the fuel pump relay is in fact commanded to 'close' and the relay contacts ifgood, allowcurrent to pass through the relay and out to the inertia switch.. If there's no power at all to the inertia switch the relay probably is bad..If there is power there, then chances are it's either the fuel pump driver module, or the pump or circuit itself. If you can check some basic power distribution points, it may help with some direction..
