I have a 99 Ford Taurus SE with a Duratec engine. The front end makes a knocking/squeaking noise when going over bumps at high or low speeds. The noises are louder when the weather is very hot. I have had the dealership and a local mechanic look at it and they can't find anything wrong with it. Each have told me the sway bars are a common problem with a Taurus but they said mine were fine and didn't hear anything. I'm tempted just to have the sway bars and bushings replaced. Is that a good place to start or does anyone know what else the problem might be? Thanks

 

i hade kindof the same problem. i hade a clunking noise coming from my front left wheel..so i check the spring..and i hade a broken coil. so u might wanna check that. i called a shop and they said that it is common in taurus's...i have a 2000 taurus se

 

I had both sway bars replaced and the noise has stopped. I had aftermarked metal ones with a grease fitting put on (they are supposed to be much better.)
