Default Fuel gauge behaving strangely...

When I first start the vehicle, the fuel gauge is pinned to above full then, after driving for a few miles, settles in to what I assume is the correct reading. Has anyone else experienced this? If you're aware of a solution, let me know?

It never hurts to provide the year and model of your vehicle since they are not all built the same way.
Good idea to have that info first, thanks.

You're right, sorry. It's a 2001 DOHC ...not the flex fuel.
