Re: Service Power Steering
Ever since I bought that piece of junk brand new at 45,000 dollars, it never worked right. After owning it for under one year, it died on me while on vacation. It barely had 10000 miles on it. Part of the engine had to be replaced because some idiot at the Ford plant put the spark plugs in the wrong way. Ever since it was fixed, I've had problems with it and put in way too much money. I have spent 5000.00 and counting over the summer months. The last fix was a week ago and today it's broken down again. When I got in the car after I was at the mall, the message center says "Service Power Steering" I got as far as the auto parts store and it stopped turning. It's like the wheels locked up but they're not. It won't steer even an inch. I had to get a ride home.
What does that message mean? Do I need a power steering pump? or does it need fluid? If it's fluid, I couldn't find the reservoir and neither could the auto parts employee.
I would appreciate any help. With all of the problems and money I have put into this car, I want to push it over a cliff.
Thanks for any help you may give me.
Melissa

I believe there is a cliff near my house, If you like leave it here and the first chance I get ,I promise,I'll try to push it over the cliff , OK ?
All kidding aside, your sentiments are understandable and maybe folks here can help with some info.
There has to be a power steering reservoir where fluid is added if necessary.Since you did not state the year, we don't know if it has electric or hydraulic power steering.
If you would, please provide the maintenance history so we might get a better picture of what is going on. Don't skimp on the details , they are all important, Thanks.
As you know , once the problems are taken care of, and your chariot is dependable again , hopefully you will forget all about looking for that cliff. OK

Hi Hanky,
The year is 2010. I took it to Ford to fix it and it cost me over 1700.00 to fix the steering issue. I'm livid over it since Ford should have recalled the 2010s. I don't know why they recalled the 2011-2015 and not 2010. They won't give me an answer why.
