Turn ignition key off and on 8 times fairly quickly. Leave in the on position. The door locks should lock and unlock. Then press either button on the remote. The locks should work. Good luck.

Will this procedure work for a 2006 Taurus SE ? I don't want to do it wrong and lose the programming for the fob that currently works.

I tried to add a second fob in with a genysis scan tool but it did not have a special function to perform this.

How do I add a second ignition key?

yep, fob programming worked.

adding a key however will need 1 hour dealer programming as I only have 1 current programmed key.
