Transmission Fluid Leaking

I'm sorry I don't know much about cars. My 2003 Taurus has a "mysterious" transmission fluid leak. This has been going on for awhile. After the first couple occurances my husband changed the gasket/seal that is in the area of the front wheels even though he thought it looked fine. Didn't do it for awhile after that. Does it off and on. Will do it and we'll put in about 1/2 a qt. Seems maybe to do it after driving around awhile.I'm afraid totake it to the dealership for fear of needless"padding" of the bill and I don't know any good mechanics in the area.I drove it to my husband's work today and it seemed fine??????????? I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or help. Thank you!!!!!!!

RE: Transmission Fluid Leaking

usually the coolling line going into the radiator is the cause. before you turn the car off have someone watching the line conecting to the radiator from the front of the car and then turn her off and wait a minute youll see drops for a few seconds very common. easier just to fill her every saturday
