2006 Taurus Windows are intermittent

2006 Ford Taurus:
The electric windows seem to take on a mind of their own, and intermittently quit operating. Then, after waiting, a variable amount of time, start working on their own.
Anyone have any ideas? It is not related to the key switch, transmission position, door position (Open or closed), outdoor or inside car temperature.
Something in the electrical circuit, like an automatically re-setting circuit breaker shuts off the power, then it re-sets itself.

Any help, or an electrical print would be helpful
Thank You!

the wiring in the driver door jam are known to break after many years of flexing. my wife's 06 Taurus had no power window function at all and no dome light when the driver door was opened.
I pulled back the rubber loom in the door jam and found 2 broken wires. if you find this scenario, the repair you do must be able to withstand constant flexing of the door opening and closing.

What?

The central junction box, that is the fuse box under the dash left of the steering column, could be causing the intermittent failing of the windows, interior lights, courtesy lights, etc. A good used box should be about $50 to $80 from a salvage yard. You MUST match the part numbers. Often they are sold with the GEM (Generic Electronic Module) attached, but unless your vehicle EXACTLY matches the vehicle the GEM module came out of it will not work in your car. The problem is not likely to be in the GEM module as it has electronic relays ands not physical /mechanical relays that would fail completely and not intermittently. Compare the fuses on your fuse box and make sure that the replacement box has the same fuses in the same places, as well as the part number match. The main difference between GEM modules is the Remote entry or NO remote entry, but there are other differences and if not an EXACT match to your vehicle will not work. Your old GEM module can be plugged into your "new" fuse box without a problem.
