noise when engine is turned off

My 94 tempo runs great--the only thing is when I turn off the ignition I hear a grinding or rumbling noise that seems to be coming from the air filter section. Have replaced the air filter to no avail. Any suggestions? Thanks :) mccall33@msn.com.

Hey Sam,,
Sure it not coming from the cooling fan or starter bendx?

also, if you have an open air element, when you shut it off, it will make a sucking noise

I am not sure--sounds like it is coming from the air filter area, but will check what you said--thanks very much!
