88 Ford Thunderbird Brake valve Problem

I have a 88 Thunderbird and the proportional valve of the brake system has failed. I nor my mechanic can find a replacement.Any ideas? Can is be bypassed?

Your proportioning valve may be hard to find except in a salvage yard (unless you haven't tried the dealer). They sell aftermarket ones (if you cannot get the stock onesany more) that you can hook in and let you manually adjust your brake bias to your liking (which I think is better than stock deals anyway).

Bypassing would result in improper braking pressures and likely failure at the rear brakes from too high pressure.

Thanks for the input. I have been seaching for a replacment without any success. The mechanic working on it has obtained a couple of salvage parts but they were in worse shape than the origianl and trying to rebuild the unit hasn't worked out. Can you give me a source for the aftermarket unit. I have been to many internet suppliers and local auto parts stores and they don't list a proportional valve for any car.

Thanks
