'88 tbird wont start. HELP PLEASE
hi, i just bought a 88 tbird yesterday as my first car. it seemed to run good yesterday when i got it. today i was cleaning it and was taking it back into the garage, and it didnt start. i turn the key, and it just clicks. i dont know what is wrong. we looked at the battery and it said it was fully charged. please help me.

Sounds like your battery. Probably drained the battery while cleaning the car. Door open radio on whatever. Soulds like battery to me. jump start it then see if that charges your battery up. [/align] |
hey adam most likely you need a new ignition and a new ignition wiring harness.i have an 88 lx also so check with ford because there is a recall on this.if not its about a two hour wiring job and forty bucks

just because a battery shows 12v dose not mean its in good shape.put it under a load.check each cell,leakage on top of the battery,if you know that the battery is older than 3 years replace it.check solinad.and the cables.make sure all connection are snug.this is just for starters.no pun intended

Or it just might be the starter I had that problem a few times with my 92 and 93.

Whenever I begin with electrical problems I always start small : battery cables. Dirty or loose (don't tighten) ... either will plague you from the start.
