For a 4 cylinder one is fine. For a V-6 or V-8 two would be better.

well, depends on your views. to me, barely legal, if your running dual exhaust you'll need two to be legal. but if you've got single exhaust, go for flow and stick with one. They certainly don't add to performance. If its an '88 its nearing that age when it doesn't have to pass DEQ anymore depending on where you live of course.

I have a 97 3.8 it has three. one on each side and one where the left and right tie into the single exhaust. But then. I do live in CA.
