Fuel Line Chaffing recall

I have a 1993 Thunderbird 5.0L. The fuel line chaffed on the floorboard resulting in a pinhole exactly as described inthe recall NHTSA ID 97V159000. The car was purchased by my mother in law who passed away last year.

During my investigation of the cause, I found that the fuel lines were wrapped in plastic convoluted tubing as described in the recall. My mother in law always went to the same dealer and I am sure she had the recall addressed. The problem is the pinhole occured just above the tubing so either the dealer did not tightly secure the wrap or the wrap does not work because now I have developed the leak.

My question is will the dealer now replace the fuel line because they did not fix it properly the first time? Do I have a case? Thoughts? I am going to the dealer tomorrow to pursue.

If I need to fix it myself, what size is the fuel line? Dorman sells replacement connectors with 18" of plastic line for this purpose. I need to know if the end is a right angle or straight and the size of the line so I can order the kit before dropping the tank.

I found out the fuel line is a 3/8" fitting with a 5/16" plastic line. It is a straight connector, not right angle. Autozone has a replacement connector with 18" of line (made by Dorman) that is a perfect replacement for this application. It was only $16 so I did not bother arguing with Ford.

Always more than one way to skin a cat!

Thanks for the update...
