01 Escape Engine Light

01 Escape 3.0 v6 4x4, the engine light was on for some time, I finally got it in to my local shop, code indicated bad DPFE sensor, replaced and I drove 25 miles, light back on, shop says bad sensor and replaced again, no charge, 25 miles later the light is back on. They have now replaced the DPFE sensor 4 times and short wire harness once, the light always comes right back and the code indicates bad DPFE sensor.

Is there anything else they should be looking for ?

check engine light on means one or more diagnostic trouble codes are stored in the engine control module. try to use a scanner tool to clear the fault codes by yourself.

What is the exact code number?

There are a bunch of vacuum tubes involved as well. Maybe one of them is leaking or clogged up.

It might pay to look a little deeper into the DPFE system. Bluewind may have a good point by referring to the vacuum hoses that connect from the EGR orifice to the DPFE sensor. Also the system should be checked for blocked passages with carbon.
