01 Explorer rotted rear brake rotors
 

Can anyone tell me if badly rusted out brake rotors are common here?
I just had my '01 Eddie B. with 51K miles on it serviced for state inspection and was shown by the mechanic my 2, badly rotted rear brake rotors which had to be replaced. He said it is common among these cars..Any comments about this?
