WOW thanks hayapower thats alot of info to digest.I guess i have some homework for tonight to find out what a cmp/synchronizer is and where its located and how i test it.I just drove the truck again and it ok until it warmed up and then i had to barely give it any throttle to start and to run down the road too much throttle and it will start jerking.
Question-if the cats were plugged would it that cause the jerking and miss feeling or wouldent that just be a flat throttle without jerking and the miss feel? I cannot rule the cats out because I do know that I have a problem occuring there because when I replaced the transmission I had to pull the exhaust and between the two from the engine and the one in front of the muffler I pulled three pieces of melted honeycomb rocks that I know is what the cats are made of.I used to have a caddilac that did this all the time and it would rattle and I guess eventually blow out the ehaust or get hung up in the muffler anyhow it never plugged up though.
I want to thank you for your help so far Hayapower and now I will go do my homework and find out what cmp/cynchronizer is.

Given the crumbling core/s, couple ways to check the cats, you can try an monitor the engine vacuum for the more extreme cases, or you can pull the 02 sensors out and if the running condition improves, then the cat/s are restricted.. Try unplugging the CMP connector for a quick test drive, and see if the problem goes away.. Also, the DPFE (Differential Pressure Feedback EGR) sensor as they can short internally and cause the PCM's 5v reference signal to groundclosing the injectors.. Here's the CMP connector, and second the DPFE.. It'll most likely gnerate a CEL..

thanks again hayapower i dident think about pulling the o2 sensor but I was thinking about dropping the exhaust from the manifolds and trying that.I will try these things before picking up the fuel pump tomorrow.I have to have this truck fixed by mon because its back to work for me.Its getting bad when you have to use vacation time to fix cars.I just cant believe that a fuel pump cost 228.00 I paid 300.00 for a transmission that only had 46,000 miles on it.Got another question here. While I replaced the transmission I went ahead and replaced the rear main seal because it was leaking,I got emory cloth and cleaned the crankshaft where the seal touched and lubed the seal and the crankshaft and re installed the new seal, well i am disapointed because it still leaks just as bad as it was before.do you think it could be the pan gasket instead?
Well anyhow thanks for your help so far you have helped me more than you can know.

OK I have an UPDATE!!!!
I have installed a 247.00 fuel pump and she drives much better however I must have more than one problem as it still has a dead spot at just between 3000 and 3500 rpms. The truck no longer misses and jerks and I can actually give it more throttle and it runs very well between 0-55 mph it still bogs when you floor it though and will start pinging.I did unplug the two items that haya power suggested last night,I dident unplug at the same time but seperatly and then drove with no change in performance.I am pretty sure now that one or more of the cats are clogged. Here is my question now,Can I pull the exhaust and punchout the insides? I know this practice is not leagal and I will replace them as soon as I can get the money to do so besides I know it probably would not pass emmissions test with them punched out.But would this hurt the engine?
I just cant believe my truck to this big of a crap all at once!! but the fuel pump was a partial success

OK here goes another update.I took the catyletic converters off and I punched them all out,all 5 of them and walla the truck runs almost like it should now.I drove it about 50 miles and i was using the a/c because its hot here in Texas and the truck seemed to have a slight miss to it at first I thought it was just the a/c cycling but started paying more attention to it and no its not the a/c cycling and my check engine light came on so I guess Ill have to go have that code pulled. But after a used transmission and a fuel pump and plug wires and a mass air flow sensor (no cost on the sensor because freind had spare) and punching out all five converters I now have a truck that is running at all RPS.Maybe the check engine light came on because it was not used to breathing so well LOL or maybe the plugs got hurt somehow by the bad converters anyhow great site here and thanks a million HAYAPOWER for your help!

OK this should be my last update!!!!!!! Retreived the code today and it was a failed EGR valve replaced and she now idles smooth and runs smooth and I cleared the codes and I just went for a 180 mile drive and no check engine light!
So in the last week I replaced the tranny with a good used one, replaced fuel pump, plug wires, knocked out all five catalytic converters and replaced the EGR.I initially replaced the mass air flow but reinstalled the old one and gave my freind his spare back.So now if the check engine light stays off it should pass emissions test tuesday!!!!I spent nearly 700.00 in all and had to take a week vacation.I think I did ok but I am sure glad I dont do this for a living,My hats off to those that do it is not easy. One day maybe I will be able to afford to take my car to a shop to have it fixed like regular folks until then thank you to the techs that are willing to come on here and give us guidance and advice.
