Default 1989 Ford F150 Brake lights

Hi I have an 89 ford f150. I use it for misc work. The brake lights went out on it the other day. I have checked the bulbs. I also noticed that the hazard lights are out too. There is no blinking on the dash, when you put them on. The two run off the same fuze. I have checked the fuze and the fuze isn't the problem. Any ideas? Do these lights get there power directly through the battery, or are they tied into the trucks wireing system??? Thanks, any help is appreciated!!

as crazy as it sounds it may be turn signal switch. beleive it or not just about every light runs through that switch one way or another. best to see if you can check it somehow befoer you run buy one though, i dont think them are cheap.
